Lacy Shruggy
This women's knit shrug is a staple for all wardrobes. Not only does this Lacy Shruggy add a nice, homemade touch to any outfit, but it also lets you wear sleeveless dresses or shirts during the fall! There's no reason to stuff all of your cutest outfits in the back of the closet when you can make this knit shrug instead. The thin, fingering-weight yarn gives this knitting pattern a light and lacy look, and keeps you from getting overheated under thick, warm yarn when you're indoors.

Leave a comment...I'm puzzled by this pattern, do I begin with the rib instructions at the bottom of the page? Why don't the cast on instructions appear first?

That is really a vintage / retro picture. I love looking at things like this. I cant wait to check out the website where the pattern is listed to see all of the other classic treasures that are waiting there. Have these patterns or the materials lists to each been updated or modernized or are they all original?

I really like vintage patterns. They usually require smaller needles but I like knitting with those needles. I find the stitches look so nice. Sure it takes you longer but the end result is great. Simple pattern and it will make a nice addition to a solid outfit. Thank you for the pattern.

This sweet retro shrug would pair perfectly with a cotton summer dress or over a sleeveless blouse with a Peter Pan collar. The shrug looks complicated, but once you've mastered the pattern stitch, its like knitting a long scarf with a bit of ribbing at both ends. It is made with fingering yarn so think of all those yummy sock yarns on the market.

It is fingering weight, not lace weight, though lace weight could work. This is a one size shrug that will fit a 34-36" bust measurement. To make it bigger, knit more than 29". Half your bust measurement plus 11 inches for the two sleeves would be the length to knit it.
